Les Karellis seems best known to readers as a good day out from bigger, more rounded Valloire, but it is a proper small resort. Les Karellis is a modern purpose-built resort, consisting mainly of a dozen apartment blocks in an attractive setting on an open shelf in the forest. The resort claims 60km of pistes, widely spread over three identifiable mountainsides with a top height of 2520m - one of them above the more traditional village of Albanne. Drags and slow chairs dominate, but a fast chair from the village accesses two of the sectors. There is something for everyone - easy blues in one sector, wide fairly easy reds elsewhere, and a couple of short but genuine blacks served by a double drag. Cross-country trails add up to 30km. To our surprise, it has a multilingual website.
