After such a snowy November, this week has provided beautiful sunny skies across Italy – perfect for getting out there and enjoying the excellent piste conditions.
An incredible 783km of pistes are already open in the Dolomites, almost two-thirds of the total, which is fantastic for early December. Snowmaking has helped, but the big early-season snowfall has set a fantastic base across the region for the season ahead.
Further west, great skiing can be found in the Aosta Valley at resorts such as Pila and Cervinia, just watch out at the latter as strong winds are forecast. Very good skiing for the time of year has also been reported down in the Milky Way, where base depths are above average for the time of year.
A little fresh snow is expected on Monday, heralding a change to colder weather – great news for resort snowmaking teams as the Christmas holidays approach.
