Snow overview for New Zealand

23 July 2018

Much of New Zealand continued to see fantastic conditions, with moderate to large snowfall reported over many resorts, including 33 cm over Tremble Cone (110/139cm), and 20cm over resorts close to Queenstown. Base depths are continuing to rise over many resorts, with good coverage and excellent off piste conditions available. More fresh snow is forecast over many resorts this coming week, with the potential for up to 50cm more of snowfall over the coming days.

On the North Island the conditions were notably less promising for Turoa (75/174cm) and Whakapapa (88/138cm). Heavy cloud, wind and ice on the lift systems is hampering operations, as well as preparations to open larger portions of the mountain, with several lifts and sectors still yet to open for the season.
