The Black Diamond Recon will appeal to riders who give their kit a lot of stick as it has a bombproof build whilst at the same time offering four-way stretch for great ease of movement. And, of course, the ‘BD.dry’ fabric is waterproof and breathable.
The design is well thought through, with all the essential features and no unnecessary extras. You get a removable powder skirt, two large inner stash pockets along with two zippered outer hand pockets, a chest pocket and a lift pass pocket and pit zips. All of which allow you to carry plenty of gear if you don’t want to take a daypack, at the same time as keeping you warm, dry and comfortable.
The relaxed fit allows for easy layering beneath the Recon, and the collar sits nice and high when zipped up to keep the elements at bay, which is further aided by the adjustable, helmet-compatible hood. It’s worth noting, however, that the hood tends to flop about somewhat if you’re not wearing a helmet or bulky beanie beneath it.
FOR Top quality build with all the essential features any serious rider wants.
AGAINST Hood a bit too large if you’re not wearing a helmet.
