Alf Alderson tests the very latest pair of Bolle sunglasses - the Highwood - which are designed specifically for wintersports and to keep out as much sun as possible.

PRICE: £89

WHAT THEY SAY: "Especially designed for winter sports, the full coverage 8 base frame of the Highwood guarantees a maximum protection and a perfect vision thanks to the antifog and the hydrophobic treatments. So nothing will alter your comfort during your pursuit of the mountain."

WHAT ALF SAYS: The Highwood are new mountain sunglasses for this season from French shademeisters Bollé.

Designed for larger faces, the cool matt black/red frames offer ‘B Flow’ technology to allow for effective venting. The polarised lenses have a very effective combination of scratch-resistant, anti-fog treatment (Bollé claim that the anti-fog will never wear out) along with a unique hydro- and oleo-phobic treatment to repel water and dirt and make them easy to clean.

I especially liked the wrap-around fit, which blocks sunlight out from pretty much every angle and provides a real feeling of protection from harsh rays.

The Highwood is also light enough for you to forget about them in use, and they come with a hard case and a cloth bag so you can keep them looking like new.

FOR: Element resistant lenses, effective wrap-around fit

AGAINST: Nothing much!
