WEBSITE: Scott Sports

WHAT THEY SAY: "SCOTT Ascend sunglasses adopt the highest quality of materials to provide the highest eye protection during high altitude expeditions. The Ascend is the perfect combination of fit, comfort and performance."

WHAT ALF SAYS: Designed specifically for high altitude shenanigans, the Ascend comes with a chunky frame that will take a decent amount of abuse, and they stay put on your face thanks to soft rubber ‘No Slip’ nose pads and flexible ‘No Slip’ temple ends> This makes them a good option for more high energy skiers, or for activities like mountain biking.

The Ascend’s lenses use Scott’s ‘Precision Optics’ and ‘Solar Blocker’ technology for sharp, clear vision, and this combined with a frame that helps shut light out on all sides mean your eyes are very well protected against the sun; they also offer 100 per cent UV protection and are impact resistant.

The model I tested came with a funky bright orange frame which made them stand out from the crowd, which was fine since the Ascend is a great, sturdy looking pair of shades which I’d happily use for any mountain activity.

Note that the Ascend also comes with a hard case and cloth storage bag so you can look after them properly.

FOR: Great looks in my opinion, good build quality

AGAINST: Bright, rugged looks may not appeal to everyone
