Alf Alderson talks us through the technical features of the Ornate jacket by Dare2b

Dare2b Ornate Jacket RRP £200

Aimed at those skiers who prefer to stick to the pistes, the Ornate is a stylish ladies’ jacket with a figure-hugging cut and good insulation and weatherproofing thanks to a waterproof and breathable outer fabric that has also been DWR-treated.

The adjustable hood is detachable, as is the faux fur trim, and there’s a good range of features including an internal stash pocket, zippered security pocket and zippered chest and handwarmer pockets. You also get a powder skirt which may not get that much use given the Ornate is aimed more at piste skiers, but it will come in useful on really snowy days when a tumble on the piste can just as easily result in snow where you don’t want it as can a wipeout off-piste.

Elasticated side panels and wrist gaiters round off what is a well kitted out jacket at a decent price.

FOR Warm and stylish; detachable hood.

AGAINST Powder skirt may be overkill, but there’s no real harm in having one.
