What distinguishes the Jottnar Fjorm jacket from all the rest? Find out in our review
The Fjorm is Jottnar’s top-of-the range down jacket and this is apparent from the moment you slip it on – you feel the snugness instantly and it also has a lovely, tactile feel to further add to the snug factor.
The Fjorm contains a generous 275g of ethically-source hydrophobic goose down with 850 Fill Power in a 93/7 down/feather ratio. In plain English this means that it’s very, very warm – I actually have a previous incarnation of this jacket that I’ve been using for five seasons, and whenever the temperature dips to double digit minus figures it’s my go-to item.
The jacket comes with a box wall body construction for better heat retention, snug fleece cuff liners and oversized zip baffling to keep the cold at bay. Lots of thought has gone into little features such as synthetic insulation at the cuffs, hem and collar which are the most likely areas to absorb moisture.
That said, the water-repellent rip-stop face fabric also resists moisture. Since the interior down is water-repellent, you’re unlikely to find the Fjorm soaking up moisture, especially since you’ll almost invariably be wearing it in sub-zero temperatures when everything is frozen anyway.
Additional features include a belay-friendly two-way zip, a large inner stash pocket along with zipped security pocket and two zipped handwarmer pockets It also features a helmet compatible hood with a mouldable peak. If you feel the cold the Fjorm is well worth checking out…
FOR Warm as toast, great design
AGAINST May be too warm outside mid-winter.
