Sponsored by Brides les Bains

You already know about the 3 Vallées, the largest ski area in the world… But here is a top tip: Brides les Bains is the best place for this experience.

Ski resort and thermal city, it has a lot to offer and with unbeatable value for money. Follow the guide!

First, where is it?

Brides is a little village in the Tarentaise, located in the 3 Vallées ski area, at the base of the Meribel Valley.

How do you get there?

By plane from London or other cities, connecting to Geneva, Lyon, Chambery or Grenoble. From there you can count a 1.30 to 2-hour transfer. Or you can take a train:  9 hours door to door: London to Moutiers train station (which is only 6km away from Brides).

Where can I stay?

Brides offers a wide variety of accommodation possibilities. Apartment or hotel, Scandinavian or classic style, in Brides-les-Bains everyone will find something to his/her taste.

Do I have to break the bank again for a ski holiday?

That’s another great asset of Brides-les-Bains, open all year from December to the end of October through its thermal and skiing activities, which means you get a different pricing structure adding up to saving for you: 30% to 50% cheaper than other resorts.

What about after skiing? What’s going on there?

You can find nice restaurants with varied menus: of course all the classics of the local cuisine (raclette, tartiflette, etc.), but also some healthy meals made by the trained chefs.

You can also find buzzing bars to enjoy a few drinks in après-ski, or after dinner. Or enjoy some of the entertainment set up by the Tourist Office like the Sunny Music Live, every Wednesday.

How do I get up there?

Brides-les-Bains became a ski resort in 1992 when they built the “Olympe Gondola” for the Albertville Olympics. Since its opening, Brides has been connected directly to Meribel and thus to the 3 Vallées ski area, and its 600km of prepared slopes. The ride takes 22 minutes.

What if I want to make the most of the 3 Vallées ski terrain?

What’s good is that you are in the central valley, Meribel. It makes it really easy to go and enjoy either the Courchevel area or the Val Thorens/Les Menuires area; actually, in 45 minutes, you will be on their slopes.

Is it for expert skiers only or can I come with beginners or with kids?

What’s good with the 3 Vallées, and that sometimes people aren’t aware of, is that you can ride the whole thing on blue slopes. 50% of them are red/black which makes the other 50% green/blue. There is something for everyone, and not only for Lindsey Vonn like skiers (but they will find fun too)!

Anything else I should know?

You sure can find a lot of things in the 3 Vallées.

If you are into freestyle, you can find great snow parks – the 3 Vallées has 5 of them – with all you can expect: halfpipe, jumps, various types of modules, etc.

With family and friends, you will be able to enjoy one of the 43 fun zones the area has or go sledging on one of the 12 tracks specially dedicated.

You can also go cross-country skiing or enjoy some snowshoeing – even by night to an igloo to go eat a good fondue up there. A lot to do in this snow paradise, on the doorstep of Brides-les-Bains.

The 3 Vallées is just heaven for anyone who likes skiing & snowboarding activities…

The Grand Spa Thermal is a lovely place to recharge the batteries after a day on the slopes. Check out the brand new infrastructure!

Tell me more about the spa?

The Grand Spa Thermal was entirely renovated through a 17m€ investment and re-opened last march. It offers state-of-the-art equipment, jacuzzis saunas, steam baths, etc. and also 3 pools inside for you to rest your legs after a day on the slopes.

Is it also open in the winter?

The answer is yes; making Brides-les-Bains a perfect spot to organize a ski & spa holiday. What’s better than letting water heal your legs and muscles after a perfect day enjoying the fresh mountain air of the most fantastic ski area in the world!
