Do you want to make a difference to the Ski Club?

The deadline for applications to join the Ski Club Council this year is 31 August 2017.

This year, two members will be elected to the Council.  The Council consists of elected members, all volunteers, with a variety of skill sets. Joining the Council is an opportunity for you to contribute to the direction of the Ski Club and to represent your fellow members and their interests.

Our aim is to have a Council that truly reflects our membership, and therefore we welcome applications from all members, regardless of background, ethnicity, age or gender.

Any nominations for Council members must be proposed (by either one current Council member, or any two Ski Club members), and the nominee must agree to stand. If elected, they must agree to become a director of the Ski Club of Great Britain Ltd. Elections take place at the Annual General Meeting on 16 November 2017.

What's the commitment?

Council meetings are held at the Ski Club offices in Wimbledon. Currently there are 9 meetings a year which begin at 5.30pm on a weekday evening. They typically run to approximately 9.00pm.

We also organise an annual Away Day in July which is residential and runs from Thursday morning until Friday afternoon. This gives Council and the Executive a chance to address strategic and tactical matters in more depth (the evening Council meetings are an opportunity for the Executive to report to Council and for Council to make decisions on key issues).

Council also occasionally set up task groups to address specific goals or projects. These groups are composed of a small group of Council members. Broadly, 4 of the meetings a year are dedicated to these groups and risk management, and the other 5 are focused on financial and management reporting.

Council members are also encouraged to attend the annual AGM in November, and other key Ski Club events such as the Industry Party in Oct/Nov.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on 31 August 2017.

Your application should include:

  • Your name, address, telephone number and email address
  • The names of your proposer(s). You must be proposed by either one current Council member, or any two current members of the Ski Club. 
  • A summary (maximum 200 words) of the skills and experience you are able to bring to the Council if elected, and what you would want the Club to achieve during your time in office. This summary will be published on our website, and in our online Report and Accounts, which will be emailed to all members approximately one month before the AGM, and will include details of all those standing for election.
  • A high-resolution photo of yourself attached to your application email, for use alongside your election summary.
