The Ski Club of Great Britain is proud to announce a new partnership with the National Schools Snowsport Association.

The collaboration means the Ski Club will promote and help with the many races and coaching opportunities NSSA organise in the UK and Europe.

The NSSA was set up as an organisation to inform schools about snowsports, build school programmes, organise competitive teams and develop competitive snowsports within the school curriculum.

The organisation works with hundreds of schools across the UK and the interest continues to grow year-on-year. An annual school snowsports magazine published by the NSSA is distributed to thousands of people across the UK, informing the ski community about school ski racing.

The Ski Club is aiming to promote grassroots competitive skiing at a national level and the NSSA partnership is the start of many plans to expand in this area of the ski industry.

Phil Brown Chairman of the NSSA is excited with the new partnership with the Ski Club: “We at the NSSA are pleased to be partnering with the Ski Club of Great Britain.

“We’ve been working within schools snowsports since 2016, focussing on younger people and growing the sport through work at school and college level.

“This new collaboration sees one of the oldest ski organisations in the UK working with one of the youngest to increase snowsports awareness and participation through events and membership for schools, colleges and families.”

Brown hopes to continue to grow competitive schools snowsports in the UK with help of the Ski Club: “We’re looking forward to working together through the successful, and growing, National Schools Indoor Series, British Schools Alpine Champs and other events in the pipeline over the next couple of years, building on the success we’ve had so far and seeing more and more children become involved in the sport for which we are both passionate.”

This season the British Alpine Open Championships will be organised by the NSSA on the 27th February to 1st March in Pila, Italy. As well as the races training is available in the resort from the 24th-26th of February to prepare schools for the main event. For more information contact office@schoolssnowsports.co.uk or call 01279444621.

In addition to the Championships in Pila, there is the National Schools Indoor Series that are staged in snowdomes around the country. There have already been two successful races in Milton Keynes in 2018. The British Schools Open on June 3rd will be in Castleford followed by a Ski Cross event later that month at the same location. Improving participation in snowsports is a key objective of the Ski Club and the NSSA events will help achieve this mission going forward.
