To give you an insight into what to expect on your ski holiday we have put together this update page. At the Ski Club HQ, we are continuously monitoring the situation at our club's favourite ski destinations.  

The Ski Club Team is closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation and are following the latest Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice. Considering recent events, we are also monitoring the guidelines regarding specific resorts that we have holidays or on snow activities (Instructor Led Guiding and Rep service) in.

Latest ski travel headlines

France: Ski lifts closed indefinitely for this season.

Switzerland: Swiss resorts are remaining open. For detailed information on what each of the Swiss cantons are doing, click here.


  • Ski lifts open (Some ski resorts, including Ischgl and Saalbach, have not yet opened)
  • Resorts including Formigal and Garmisch which have not been able to open this season have now said they won’t now open this season even if allowed to in the spring. More Austrian ski areas that were open to locals including St Anton and Solden have now closed after stricter rulers made operations untenable.
  • Tirol region in Austria now requires skiers to provide a negative coronavirus test result dated within the previous 48 hours in order to ski.
  • The lockdown has also been extended across Austria until Easter for the restaurants, bars and hotels
  • Skiing is for locals only during lockdown as a means for exercise. Austria is clamping down on foreigners staying and skiing in the resorts illegally. 

Italy: Ski lifts are now closed until April.
