Sochi - Rosa Khutor Ski Resort
The host resort for the 2014 Winter Olympic ski races has gone from strength to strength and now offers 102km of varied slopes.
Almost everything here is less than 10 years old, with smart fast lifts, new hotels and new facilities at every turn – making this a truly modern ski resort. With 1500m of ski vertical, long runs and a varied mixture of wooded slopes and high alpine bowls, the ski area really packs a punch. Recent expansion has seen new lifts built on the backside of the mountain, adding further variety to the frontside slopes. There's also a good terrain park, including a semi-natural Stash terrain park in the woods, and great beginner facilities lower down.
By basing yourself down in the valley, you'll then get the chance to ski at some of the other Olympic ski venues, including Krasnaya Polyana, Gazprom Resort and Alpika Service – all of which are within easy reach of Rosa Khutor and make for great daytrips. Fly to Sochi and catch the train or grab a transfer up to get here.
