The Monterosa ski area is nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps and is made up of the three principal resorts of Alagna, Gressoney and Champoluc, all traditional and charming villages. Among serious powder hounds, the Monterosa Ski area is renowned for its extensive off-piste, however it is yet to make its way to the mainstream market. This means the slopes remain quiet during the week, with plenty of untracked powder runs to be found.
ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
On this trip you will spend three days with your local instructor and three days with your Ski Club Leader. The main lifts into the ski area are clustered around Stafal at the head of the valley, but there is a chairlift on the edge of Gressoney La Trinité itself. Even further down the valley in the other direction is Gressoney St Jean, which has its own small area of slopes.
RESORT
Gressoney is the centrally placed resort in the three-valley Monterosa ski area, and widely considered one of the most scenic in the Aosta valley. It's even quieter than Champoluc, and rather more attractive: a traditional, neat little village, with cobbled streets and wooden buildings. Not commonly featured by UK tour operators; making it more likely the area will retain its unique character.
ACCOMMODATION
A friendly family run hotel, the room have all been recently renovated and refurbished. Situated only 50m from the chairlifts, it provides both great access to the slopes as well as fantastic views across the mountain. In the evenings you have access to both spa facilities with a whirlpool and sauna, as well as the snug lounge with game room.
