Expect enough challenging terrain and untracked powder to keep even the most extreme off piste skiers happy on this trip to the Val d'Anniviers region. With the help of your local mountain guide, you will spend your week seeking out the supreme powder that this relatively unknown area has to offer.
ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
The real pull of Grimentz is the off piste, with access to Zinal via the Sorebois cable-car, you will have the option to explore even more of this extensive back country terrain.
This trip consists of six full days skiing off piste with a mountain guide. Groups will be divided based on ski profile. This trip is aimed at Advanced (Purple) and Expert (Gold) off piste skiers. If you are unsure of your level please see our Ski Profile Page. At the end of the week you will receive an updated grading from your guide or Ski Club Rep.
When participating in a purple/Gold off piste holiday you should be prepared to do some ski touring at some point during the trip. Where possible the lift system will be used to access off piste terrain, however if you need to venture a bit further afield in order to access the best off piste conditions, then your guide may suggest ski touring. This will all be dependent upon conditions and the guides you have on your trip.
The 3* Hotel Alpina Grimentz is a welcoming and cosy hotel offering tasty food on a half board basis. The hotel is based in a great location right at the bottom of the lifts next to the Grimentz-Zinal cable car, barely 30 metres from the piste and perfectly located to begin your ski day in any direction you choose.
This holiday is on a twin share basis. If you are a solo traveler, then you will be placed in a room with someone of the same gender. Single rooms may be available upon request. These are subject to our hotel room allowance. If you require a single room, please book early to avoid disappointment.
Flights are not included but you will receive a Swiss Rail ticket for return travel between Geneva Airport and Grimentz. The Rail ticket will be sent to you by post. Timetables and route planners can be found on the Swiss Rail website https://www.sbb.ch/en
Please do not book your flights until this holiday has been confirmed to run. Once the holiday has been confirmed, please send your flight details (flight numbers, arrival and departure time) to the Freshtracks Team via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Grimentz is one of 12 picturesque villages in the stunning Val d'Anniviers. The small, friendly village, dotted with sun-blackened raccards (wheat storage barns) and ancient chalets, dates back to the 15th century. Grimentz is slightly larger than its neighbour Zinal but has direct access to a smaller ski area. The terrain can be punishing and for this reason, we always ski with qualified mountain guides in this area, especially if we are going to explore the backcountry. However, if you’re up for a challenge, the skiing will be rewarding and frankly, epic. The locals here are serious about their skiing which means the bars and nightclubs of other resorts in the area are forgotten, but you will find some great sports shops selling the latest equipment with staff who are as passionate as you are. For more information on Grimentz, please see the Grimentz Resort Page.
If you require ski hire, we recommend the Grimentz - Zinal. Ski Sarl shop. This is located 50m from the hotel. Ski Club members can get a discount at this Ski set shop when pre-booking online through the Ski Club website.
If you own your own ski touring equipment, then it may be worth taking this with you on your trip. If you do not own your own kit, then this can normally be easily rented in resort. However, please be aware of the cost of hiring this equipment in resort.
