7 nights, Flaine, France

10 Mar 2018 - 17 Mar 2018

From £1025 per person

This holiday has already departed.

This course is designed for those who have had no or very little experience in powder and wish to learn. The instructors will show you how to differ your technique from on piste skiing and explain in detail how to improve your turns in deep snow. Expect, by the end of the week, to be confidently shooting down some wide open powder fields linking several turns together in style. You should be at least a 'Silver' (advanced intermediate) skier on piste and comfortable and confident to ski all groomed runs including blacks - though not necessarily in a stylish manner! Learning to ski off piste can be exhausting. Chances are you will be putting in more effort than on piste - and falling over quite a bit! All this (and hunting for your skis in powder) is very tiring and you will need to be at your fittest to make the most of this week. If you have any questions or concerns please give the Frestracks team a call on 020 8410 2022.

Holiday price includes: 7 nights chalet board, chalet accommodation, twin share, coach transfers, 5 days with instructors, Ski Club Leader
Lift price information: Lift pass guide: Adult 6 day Grand Massif lift pass for £205 and senior £195

On Snow Experience

Sunday is a warm up day/free ski day where you get the chance to explore the resort, test your kit (and your legs!) and make sure you are all set for the days ahead. You’ll then spend five full days with the instructors developing your skills and confidence moving to more and more challenging terrain and slopes as you progress. We would expect two or three groups on this holiday and you will be split in to groups based on off piste ability and fitness.

Accommodation

Seven nights chalet board in one of our two chalets situated side by side up in Hameau de Flaine. Chalet board is breakfast, afternoon tea and a three course evening meal with wine on six nights. On the chalet host night off, the Ski Club Leader will organise a meal out for the group - payable locally. For more information about our chalets, please click here

Resort

At the heart of the Grand Massif, Flaine has fantastic, vast and varied terrain for skiers of all levels. As a resort built because of its majestic mountains and generous dumps of snow, Flaine benefits from one of the best snowfalls across the Alps, with an average of almost six metres a year. With its runs being predominantly north-facing, the resort is renowned for maintaining fantastic snow throughout the season.
The resort itself is functional rather than attractive but offers decent shops and services and a couple of bars. The chalets are based up in the colourful Scandinavian-style development, Les Chalets du Hameau, a few minutes drive from the main resort. In the Hameau itself there is a bar/restaurant L'Ancolie which also has a small shop with some local products. There is a free transport to and from the main resort until midnight and in good conditions you can also ski down to the meeting point in the mornings.

Travel

There are no flights included. The closest airport is Geneva, and from here we run a set transfer every that departs Geneva at 2.30 pm on the way out, and then we will get you back to the airport for 11.30 am on the return. The meeting point at Geneva is the Jazz cafe - on your right as you enter arrivals.
Should you make your own way to/from resort then please aim to arrive at the chalet no earlier than 4.30 pm and to depart no later than 9.30 am.

Lift passes

You can pre purchase your lift pass through Ski Club Freshtracks for £205 for a six day adult Grand Massif pass or £195 for a senior pass (over 65). This must be booked with the Freshtracks team by the Tuesday before departure

Ski Hire

Should you need to hire skis or boots then we highly recommend Sport2000 in Flaine Forum. Our regulars will be familiar with Seb, Hugo and Loic in the shop who are so helpful and welcoming to our members. They work closely alongside our instructor team to make sure they have an excellent range of kit perfect for our courses including Cham 87 & 97's Rossignol Sin and Soul 7's, Movement and Black Crows. As well as providing great kit and excellent service they also offer all members a 20% discount and you can even leave your kit there each evening rather than taking it back to the chalet should you wish.
