ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
You’ll spend four days with mountain guides and your fellow Freshtrackers. A good level of fitness is required as some skinning may be involved. Whilst it may be lesser known to the British market, surprisingly it is Italy’s fifth largest ski area with extensive terrain. The trip is aimed at Advanced (Purple) and Expert (Gold) off piste skiers, but if you are unsure of your standard please take a look at our Ski Profile Page on the website.
You will be staying in the comfortable 3* Hotel Iris, located 100m from the main street, with the added bonus of a sun soaked terrace. The Hotel Iris offers a warm ambience in which to relax after a day spent on the slopes. You’ll be staying in twin share accommodation for the 4 nights, on a half board basis.
This holiday includes both your flights and transfers. The flights are with British Airways departing from London Gatwick, South Terminal. Ski carriage is payable at the airport only and cannot be pre-booked. Your Ski Club Rep will coordinate the coach transfer from Naples airport, so please look out for them in the main arrivals hall; they will be wearing their blue Ski Club jacket. The transfer will take roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes.
If these arrangements are not convenient you may be eligible to organise your own travel and receive a nominal discount from the holiday cost. If you can find alternative flights that coincide with our flight times then it may be possible to meet the group at the arrival airport and take our transfers to resort. Please contact the Freshtracks office on 020 8410 2022 in order to discuss this further.
Roccaraso is the largest of the resorts in Abruzzo, east of Rome, with lodgings in the town and at three lift bases on the mountain. The area has terrain for most abilities from beginner to expert with over 65 runs and 80km of pistes. Due to its relatively unknown status in the British market, you will find the area quieter during the week and hear a flurry of Italian voices during the weekends.
