Although Sainte Foy is surrounded by the sprawling purpose built mega-resorts of the Tarentaise, this hidden gem maintains its authentic alpine feel and packs a serious skiing punch.
From your front door a minibus can transport you to wherever your guide recommends for the best snow conditions available, groups will regularly ski a different resort each day for a week! Known as a connoisseur’s choice among backcountry skiers, Sainte Foy’s local area is renowned for its off piste, both above and below the treeline.
Nestled in the Tarentaise valley, developed since 1990, the resort has developed a reputation as an charming, quiet resort with minimal lift queues and quiet slopes. Don't expect much in the way of rowdy apres, though there are a couple of highly regarded bars and restaurants that suit the more laid back attitude of the village and build in a traditional Savoyard style. While sometimes ungenerous described as four lifts and eight pistes, this count be further from the truth. The slopes offer long, steep tree lined runs on snow with fresh powder lasting for days just metres from pisted runs; as well as some of the best off piste and back country on offer in France. The slopes are only busy when the weather has closed access to the neighbouring resorts at higher altitude.
