They say

The new Watea has a remarkable new topsheet which covers a wood core combined with ABS sidewalls in a classic sandwich construction. It also uses an ultra lightweight and strong carbon layer to improve handling and performance.

We say

This ski is capable of high-speed turns with great edge-hold - yet forgiving enough to dump speed, and adjust the turn-shape whenever necessary. It works really well blasting through crud and chopped-up conditions, and generally feels solid, grippy and fast both on piste and close to it. In deep powder, the shape also works well, although it feels quite narrow underfoot and doesn’t have the easy float of some of the fatter options we tried in this group.

Tester Comments

Chris Taine
A solid all-rounder that’s going to appeal to a range of skiers, though width-wise it’s closer to all-mountain than freeride
Derek Chandler
Felt like a ski you could really crank over and ski hard in most conditions
