They say

Atomic Backland 85 is a perfectly balanced touring ski for all skiers, with a specific shape for hiking and HRZN Tech in the tip for great flotation in powder

We say

The Backland felt like it covered all the bases you would expect with a touring ski. It feels light, very easy to pivot and steers with minimum effort. It also has a wide enough platform to float up quickly and easily in powder. In some ways it felt more like a traditional touring ski with that narrow 85mm underfoot, but it feels really well balanced and because of its lightweight, performed well in variable conditions away from the piste. It has surprisingly high levels of grip for this type of ski and performed well as an all rounder. Overall this is a solid choice, that seems to cover all areas really well

Well balanced, good grip, a bit narrower so would struggle more in deeper snow
