SkiWelt Rep Report

Our Day

With the opportunity to get out early and rain forecast I was on the lift by 08.20.
Decided to do a full recce of what is available on the main mountain areas and hope this will be helpful to anyone arriving next week for Easter.
Itter and Hopfgarten areas are effectively closed. Both are using their bubbles to bring skiers towards Hohe Salve.
Soll is still sking well in the area above Hochsoll, with most runs open but lack of snow making them narrower as the pisteurs manage the snow. Piste 40 is very brown,
Ellmau is still skiing well to the base along blue 80.
Scheffau is still skiing well to midstation on Black 60 and Blue 61.
Hochbrixen is skiing well on Blue 6a but Red 6 is very limited.
All the higher pistes are still showing a good coverage of snow but tend towards bumpy, slushy, snow after 14.00 unless temperatures stay below zero into the late morning. They are getting narrower as the snow is managed but allow plenty of skiing in the Hartkaiser, Eiberg, Zinsberg and Hochbrixen areas.
Members favourite of the runs probably Black60 with the bumpy nature of Blue2a and Blue97b, both essential to return towards Soll most days, making them the least appreciated!

Weather

Dry overnight but rain showers began about 08.00 and low cloud and heavy rain set in after midday.
Heavy cloud meant flat light all morning. Visibility was particularly poof above 1500m as the low cloud and rain arrived. It improved as the afternoon went on.
Temperatures were around 5c above 10000m all morning and dropping during the afternoon as a colder air mass moved in; but not cold enough for snow.
Westerly winds grew stronger during the morning but became less in the afternoon.
