Few villages hug their mountainside as much as Hérémence; the steep sided terraced valley offering outstanding, unbroken views over the Borge and Dixens rivers as they flow through Valais on their way to Sion and the Rhone.
Hérémence marks the extreme left-hand-side of the 4 Vallees network, linking it to Verbier, Nendaz, the 410kms of pistes on offer and some of the world leading off piste available. Skiing is available from the village itself at 1,200 metres with easy access to Thyon at 2,100m, stretching up to Greppon Blanc at 2,700m. From there, access via Siviez opens up Mont Gele, Mont Fort, the Tortin itineraries and the rest of the 4 Vallees.
Combining rustic charm with a range of new development in recent years, don’t expect bouncing après or a wide array of restaurants off the snow – as well as being an idyllic woodland retreat Hérémence serves as a weekend destination for those travelling up from nearby Sion.
On-snow, the local runs cater well to intermediates and progressing skiers, with a nice selection of blues running back to the resort. Access to other corners of the wider ski are is by red runs – rated easier in Switzerland compared to elsewhere – meaning progression for absolute beginners may be limited to Hérémence itself.
