As Austria's highest ski village – in fact it is one of the Alps' highest resorts – the snow in Kühtai is as reliable as it can get.
Runs fan out across both sides of the valley, giving you around 500m of ski vertical, most of which are rated red. That being said, there are some good long blacks off the Hohemutbahn and a decent beginner zone at the foot of the hill. For freestylers there are excellent facilities, with a big snowpark, a superpipe and skicross course dotted across the mountainside.
Note too that your lift pass gives you access to the Hochoetz ski area a little further to the west.
The resort is a mere 35km from Innsbruck, so does attract weekend crowds if the snow is not so good lower down elsewhere, but there are few resorts as convenient or with shorter transfer times. In resort there’s a collection of comfortable hotels many of which are ski-in, ski-out. Off the slopes there’s cross country skiing on offer, with several marked and groomed loops – the most scenic being around the frozen lake just to the west of the resort centre.

Snow Overview

The weekend starts mild across the region, with the freezing line ticking up to 4,000m. This sits under a layer of cloud cover, which will bring with it precipitation; this will fall as snow in many areas, as the freezing line drops from this peak as low as 1,500m over the course of the weekend.
Western areas will see around 12cm of snow, with easterly and southern areas seeing perhaps a foot on Monday along, with another 10cm before and after. This will remain across higher ground, as the freezing line doesn’t dip below 2,000m during this snowy period.
Unsettled conditions continue over the course of this week, with more snow on the way in parts.
