With 3000 acres of skiable terrain, a good lift system and much quieter slopes than resorts a little further south by Salt Lake City,

Snowbasin should not be overlooked for its better known neighbours. Although there’s some beginner terrain at the foot of the slopes, this really is a resort for intermediates upwards as the terrain map is dominated by blue and in particular black-rated terrain. The 2002 Olympic resort also has the bonus of long runs and a big vertical of almost 1000m, much of which can be skied in a single descent.

There is no accommodation on the hill, so you’ll need to stay down by the Pineview Reservoir or in the town of Mountain Green. The city of Ogden provides an alternative, just note you’ll need to drive a little further. Tie in a trip here to a visit to Powder Mountain, or of course make it a two-centre trip and also spend time further south in the Wasatch Mountains around Park City.

Mild conditions dominate over the Left Coast, with plenty of fine, dry and bright conditions thanks to high pressure over the region. A few flurries of snow and rain will move across the region, and Colorado will see temperatures fall and up to 30cm of snow moving in to start the week.

On the Ice Coast, warm temperatures dominate with plenty of rain to boot, all throughout this weekend and the new week.
