A big part of what makes these holidays stand out is the instructors and guides. We’ve worked with the same teams for years, and many members come back as much for them as for the skiing itself.
In Flaine, Diane Moreau leads the teams – widely regarded as one of the best instructors in the valley. Chamonix is no different, with highly experienced guides and instructors like Andy Perkins and Rachel Kerr who know the mountains inside and out and know exactly how the Ski Club works. Each instructor specialises in a particular style of holiday, whether it’s a Learn to Ski Powder Week, Going for Gold, or anything in between.
Of course, you’ll get the full chalet experience thanks to our top hosts. We bring in hosts who are every bit as seasoned as our instructors, making sure you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
In Chamonix, Josh and Elle are returning this year, much to everyone’s delight. Their cooking is consistently a highlight so good that past guests still rave about it months later. In Flaine, James is back too (joined this time by Dan), ready to welcome you with the same warm hospitality. Pete and Rachel will also be back to Flaine after some time exploring different resorts.
Think hearty breakfasts to fuel your day, freshly baked cakes waiting when you come in from the slopes, and carefully planned evening meals that are just the right mix of comforting and indulgent. And yes, there’s always a generous supply of French wine and beer to toast the day’s adventures.
Chamonix has long been known as the heart of big mountain skiing. With its mix of glaciers, steep couloirs, and legendary off-piste routes, it’s the place to challenge yourself if you’re looking for serious adventure. That said, it’s not just for the extreme – the valley offers a huge amount of variety, and with the right guide you’ll find everything from tree runs to quieter slopes that still give you that sense of exploring beyond the pistes.
Flaine is a vastly underestimated resort. The resort’s bowl-shaped layout makes off piste areas easy to reach, and it’s brilliant for skiers who want to take their first steps into All Mountain skiing without straying too far. But it’s not only for building confidence – the variety of terrain, from wide powder fields to more technical descents, means advanced skiers can find plenty to get stuck into as well.
One of the best parts of a Freshtracks chalet holiday is the people you meet. Everyone’s there for the same reason to ski, enjoy the mountains, and have a good time. Groups are matched by ability, so you’ll be skiing with others at a similar level, which makes the days on the mountain flow really well. Off the slopes, the chalet atmosphere is relaxed and sociable, whether you’re swapping stories over dinner, sharing a drink by the fire, or planning the next day’s adventure. Many guests come alone and end up leaving with new skiing friends they reconnect with year after year.
Ultimately, we’re on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly. We take care of everything from chalet catering and staff nights off to organising ski groups and making sure everyone is safe and happy, so you can focus on what matters most: skiing, relaxing and enjoying your holiday.
