Quick access to the local slopes is possible via the recently built Diablerets Express gondola,
from the top of which it is possible to make the journey across to the linked ski area with Villars. These slopes suit intermediates best, with blues and reds scattered across the piste map – most are tree-lined and are therefore good for bad weather days. A short bus ride up the valley takes you to the foot of the snowsure slopes at Glacier 3000, where there’s some steeper terrain (including a beautiful long black down to the valley) and some seriously impressive high-alpine scenery.
The village is scattered across a sunny hillside, but the centre is pretty and most accommodation is in chalets or small chalet-style hotels. There’s plenty to do away from the slopes, including a long, winding sledge run down from the top of the gondola at Les Mazots. Access is very easy from Geneva, with the resort having one of the quickest transfer times in the Swiss Alps.

Warm conditions dominate over the whole Swiss Alps over this week and into the weekend, as the freezing line remains stubbornly high until the end of this week. cloud and a few flurries of snowfall will move in at times, especially overnight, but this will barely be enough to register on the snow stake.
The freezing line drops gradually as the weekend approaches, dropping consistently to 1,000m on Saturday across the region. Saturday will also see some more unsettled weather move in including snowfall; around 10cm will fall across eastern areas, rising to 25cm over more westerly reaches. The freezing line will be lower in the east than west, meaning most of the best of this snowfall will be over upper slopes above 1,500m.
Sunday should dawn fine, dry and bright across the region, cold overnight temperatures climbing considerably in the midday sun as a spring-like freeze-thaw cycle begins. A mix of cloud and sun will then be the theme of the new week.
