Katy Ellis to lead the Ski Club of Great Britain as General Manager

The Ski Club of Great Britain has appointed Katy Ellis as its new General Manager, following the departure of James Gambrill, who has led the organisation since 2021.
Ellis, previously Head of Holidays at the Ski Club, has played a key role in the continued growth of the club’s successful Freshtracks holidays programme since 2022. Over the past 20 years, she has held a number of senior roles within the organisation, building extensive experience across the club’s activities and operations.

Reporting directly to the Club Chair and Council members elected at the club’s AGM, Ellis will oversee the next chapter of the Ski Club. Founded in 1903 at London’s Café Royal, the Ski Club has played an important role in the development of British and international snowsports for more than a century.
Today, the Ski Club has more than 12,000 members, with many joining Freshtracks holidays each winter or skiing socially with the club’s volunteer Reps across 23 destinations in the Alps and North America.

Katy Ellis, Ski Club General Manager, said:
“It’s an honour to lead the Ski Club at such an exciting time for the organisation. We continue to see strong growth in our Freshtracks holidays programme, with trips now running across more than 60 ski resorts and spanning six different categories, including on piste, all mountain, off piste, ski touring, weekends and bucket list experiences.
Our team continues to grow too, with a passionate mix of full and part-time staff alongside an increasing number of volunteer Reps, who complete our comprehensive 10-day training course each December. We have lots of exciting plans for the future, and I’m looking forward to building on the strong position the club is in today.”

Angus Maciver, Chairman of the Ski Club of Great Britain, said:
“The success of the Ski Club is driven by its staff, Reps and members, all of whom share a passion for skiing and the social side of the sport. As James Gambrill steps down after five years leading the organisation, we are delighted to see the club in such a strong position. Katy’s appointment is both a natural progression and an exciting step forward for the club.
The Ski Club continues to be a fantastic place for skiers, including solo skiers, to connect and ski together, whether through our Reps programme in resort or as part of a Freshtracks holiday. Members also benefit from the UK’s largest snowsports partner discount scheme, with savings that can often cover the cost of membership through a single holiday booking.”

James Gambrill is returning to a full-time role with Mountain Trade Network (MTN) and the London Snow Show ahead of its 2026 event on 17–18 October.
