It was a lovely day for skiing around the Tarentaise region of France on Tuesday 12th March, with a mixture of sun and cloud, and temperatures largely around freezing level or below at resort level. Les Arcs was enjoying some great conditions around the Aigulle Rouge, and was boasting up to 290cm on its upper slopes. Across the Vanoise express and into La Plagne, and the Bellecote Glacier was also looking in really good knick. In the 3 Vallees the riding conditions were equally good at the likes of Val Thorens, Meribel and Courcheval, with the latter receiving 6cm of fresh at 1850m in the last 24 hours.
Resorts around Geneva also enjoyed some fair weather in the morning, though the likes of Chamonix, Flaine and Avoriaz are likely to see overcast skies during the afternoon of Tuesday, leading to snow later on. Resorts lower down in the Grande Massif such as Samoens have seen plenty of rain lately, but the forecast looks promising over Tuesday and Wednesday with a drop in temperature and over 50cm expected.
Resorts in the French Pyrenees such Cauterets continue to impress; 11/15 lifts were spinning on Tuesday, along with nice on piste riding from top to bottom.
