Villard de Lans has access to 125km of pistes which offer excellent variety.
For beginners there is an area at the top of the Pre des Preys gondola. There are some great pistes for progression such as the Salamandre which is a long, gentle, windy run. Intermediates can access the runs most suited to them by heading high up the mountain – the runs from the TSD Crรชtes chairlift, the Jaux 1 draglift and the Ourson draglift in particular are excellent. Advanced skiers, while not quite as well served as beginners and intermediates, have plenty to keep them occupied. Le Grand Couloir is a good challenge and extensive off piste can be found in the Petite Moucherolle area.
The resort has a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets. There are luxury hotels should your budget stretch far enough or there are more affordable chalets, hotels and apartments. There is also plenty to do in the resort, including a lively aprรจs scene. Grenoble airport is just an hour’s drive from the resort and Chambรฉry and Lyon airports are good alternatives.<

The penultimate snow overview for this season very much heralds the end of the season across the French Alps, with only a handful of resorts still open amidst rising temperatures and dry conditions.
Sun dominates the French Alps through the middle of this week, with spring conditions as the freezing line fluctuates from 3,000m overnight to 3,500m during the midday sun – higher than even the highest slopes. Cloud cover moves in as the weekend approaches, but this only works to trap the heat, helping the freezing line climb above 4,000m briefly on Friday.
A few drops of rain are expected on Sunday, but this will fall as rain. A couple of flocons could fall across higher ground into the new week, just as the final resorts bring lift operations to a close for the season.
