Spitzingsee Ski Resort
Small German resort located an hour south of Munich by the beautiful Spitzingsee Lake.
The lake is the central feature of the resort, with ski lifts starting from its western side and rising over the Stümpfling ridge. The altitude is relatively low, but snowmaking investment has ensure reliable even in challenging winters, plus there's the benefit that the slopes are all tree-lined – ideal for bad weather. Two fast quads and a handful of drags provide the uplift, plus there's extensive ski touring options on the east side of the lake.
The village is small but pretty as it is located right on the edge of the lake. As most visitors are daytrippers, there's not a huge amount going on, so you may wish to base yourself down in Neuhaus or Schliersee. As mentioned, access from Munich is easy, making this a good day trip option, plus there's a network of cross country and winter walking trails if you're part of a mixed group.
