Grindewald Rep Report

Submitted by: Rod Whenray

Our Day

The group was as fragmented today as yesterday. Sick note, as he is now called, got up the first bahn at 8 a.m to put us all to shame. The rest of the group, including one who decided to walk, headed up shortly after. We were rewarded by lots of new snow, deserted pistes, and no lift queues. After a few runs on the deserted oberjoch slopes, the second wave of skiers ventured into the first restaurant to meet up with Sick Note and the walker for a hot chocolate. After this most of the group headed out to tackle Oberjoch and the Grindel and Schilt chairs, leaving one skier to lap the Oberjoch blue. The visibility at this time was non-existent. After a few laps, the oberjoch skier had decided to head to Schreckfeld for lunch. Sick Note decided ,considering the weather, that seemed a jolly good idea and went to meet up in the restaurant. Luckily for those left, the clouds parted and the sun emerged , allowing us to finally see the new snow on the pistes. As such, we took advantage of the visibility to lap the black down to Grindel chair before joining the rest of the skiers in the restaurant, where we were finally joined by the walker. After lunch, the group split again, with two skiers and the walker heading down as the visibility had truly gone. The rest of the group skied down a heavy bort direct before returning to the village down an even heavier red 22 for a well-earned beer to mark the end of the holiday at the โ€˜bus stopโ€™ bar.

Weather

The best way to sum up the weather is to say Winter has returned! The snow line was just above Grund. However, the visibility left something to be desired for most of the day.

News & Notes

This is the end of my repping slot, many of the groups holiday, and the ski club repping service in resort for this year. However, there are a few members still skiing in resort, and they can be found on the SCGP app. Please use it to get in touch with others in resort.
