High up in the Ötztal Alps, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, Gurgl lets you leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life far behind. This high-alpine destination stretches from an altitude of 1,800 to 3,030m and delights visitors with guaranteed snow, sweeping mountain views and skiing fun well into spring. Thanks to the early start to the season, Gurgl is one of the first ski resorts in the Alps where winter sports enthusiasts can once again leave their tracks in the snow.
On 19 November 2026 the ski resort kicks off the 2026/27 winter season. Just a few days later, the international slalom elite will arrive – and Gurgl will kick off the winter season at top speed.

On 21 and 22 November 2026, the international skiing elite will gather at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Gurgl. The spectacular race course on the Kirchenkarpiste in Hochgurgl demands precision, technique and total commitment. With a maximum gradient of 62% and a vertical drop of just 210m over a distance of 548m. A worthy piste on the Ski World Cup circuit. From the stands and spectator areas, ski fans can experience speed, excitement and a genuine World Cup atmosphere at close quarters.
Even away from the race track, the World Cup weekend offers some special experiences. Exclusive evening events are planned at the Gurgl Carat, the conference and events centre in Obergurgl. The detailed programme for 2026 will be announced as soon as all the events have been finalised.
As well as standard day tickets, premium and VIP tickets are also available. This allows you to combine world-class skiing with exclusive services and exceptional comfort.
Once the professional racers have crossed the finish line, your own skiing adventure begins. The Gurgl ski resort offers 112km of perfectly groomed slopes and 25 modern lifts – with guaranteed snow from November well into spring.
Wide, superbly groomed runs offer plenty of space for sweeping turns. Numerous wide blue runs invite you to enjoy a relaxed day’s skiing, whilst more challenging runs also offer experienced winter sports enthusiasts a variety of sporting challenges. The Top Express links Hochgurgl and Obergurgl, making it easy to explore both sides of the ski resort in a single day’s skiing.
Modern ski lifts, the vast expanse of the ski area and runs to suit all ability levels make skiing in Gurgl a particularly enjoyable experience. Instead of wasting precious holiday time on long walks, you can focus on what really matters: the snow, the mountains and every single turn.

Some of Gurgl’s most impressive experiences await you high above the slopes. At 3,030m, the Top Mountain Star marks the highest point in the ski area accessible by lift. The striking star-shaped architecture houses a 360° panoramic bar serving drinks and snacks. The view stretches across a sea of mountain peaks – on a clear day, all the way to the Dolomites.
Another top spot is the Hohe Mut Alm. Nestled amongst 21 three-thousand-metre peaks, the hut combines an alpine atmosphere, excellent cuisine and a spacious sun terrace with stunning mountain views. It’s the ideal place to take a break between runs and savour the pleasures of a day’s skiing in Gurgl.
Cuisine also plays a special role in the other huts and mountain restaurants. Regional cuisine is given a contemporary twist using high-quality ingredients. Add to that the crisp mountain air and sweeping views – and every stop becomes an experience in its own right.
