On Snow Experience

Bad Hofgastein is a perennial favourite, and with good reason – we sent over 100 members there last season alone. That’s why we’ve chosen it as the destination for our very first on-piste, all-ability holiday. With excellent connections across the Gastein Valley ski area, you’ll have no shortage of new terrain to discover each day — from relaxed blue runs to more challenging descents, there’s something for every skier.

On this holiday you’ll spend six days social skiing with other members and will be split into groups of 8/9 based on your ski profile. If you’re unsure of your ski profile, please visit our ‘Ski Profiles’ page. On our social skiing holidays, your Ski Club Rep will ski with the groups as a member sharing their knowledge of the area from the quietest pistes, best runs and tastiest lunch spots.

I started skiing in my mid 20's (some time ago) and was immediately bitten by the ski bug! Since then I have skied many resorts in various countries including Austria, France, Italy, Canada and Argentina. I see skiing as a social activity and love the element of skiing with people of all ages and abilities. I have managed over the years to evolve my career (TV/AV production and postproduction) to be able to fit around my time on the ski slopes! I have greatly benefited from skiing with the Ski Club in the past and so now feel privileged to be able to contribute as a Ski Club Rep this year.

I found enthusiasm for skiing, following a school trip to Aufach in Austria. Since then, I have skied most years in Europe. My favourite ski areas are 4 Vallees, Espace Killy & Trois Vallees. Other resorts I have enjoyed include Zermatt, Cortina d'Ampezzo and St Anton.
As well as skiing, I enjoy slogging across the sands of the Surrey Hills on my mountain bike in order to maintain a modicum of fitness. In addition, I enjoy bodyboarding with my family in North Devon/Cornwall.
Outside of leisure time I work as a Chartered Surveyor.

I've been skiing for a good while and very much enjoy all things outdoor, whether dog walking, cycling and in particular, any time I'm able to spend skiing, irrespective of resort, pitch or run; the enjoyment from skiing the whole mountain with like minded individuals is indescribable.
I look forward to joining you in resort, to share my joy of skiing and the great outdoors, where we will seek out the best snow and runs a resort can offer.
See you on the hill!

I have skied almost every year since I was a toddler. My parents got the skiing bug as students, and in the 70’s and 80’s drove my sister and I to the French alps every year in a Volvo estate packed with pasta and soup tins. My own family have now grown up as skiers too.

I love the feeling of being in fabulous mountain scenery and enjoying the flow and free expression of skiing on or off-piste, powder or a cruisy carve on my snowboard. Recently I’ve been enjoying more adventurous trips, skinning and using guides to reach remote terrain. I’ve skied mostly in the Alps, at home in Scotland and a little in North America. I am looking forward to exploring new places and meeting new people with the club.

As a newly minted (class of ’25) SCGB rep I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for all things snow with you!

  • The picturesque spa town has long attracted holidaymakers looking for that combination of great skiing and an array of off slope activities.

One of the most significant draws to Bad Hofgastein is its impressive spa facilities that draw mineral-rich thermal waters from the mountains – perfect for easing those aching muscles after a long day on the slopes. Another draw is the access to the 86km of local pistes above the village that has been transformed following the construction of the Schlossalmbahn gondola, a mammoth project costing €85 million. Add in a further 93km of runs in the rest of the valley‘s three ski areas – all of which are connected by a good bus service – and the variety will keep even the keenest skiers busy for a week.

    15 – 22 Mar 26 : Adrian Lamb, Adrian Pickett, Graeme Monteith & Rick D’Eath

It is a condition of booking that you have valid and adequate snowsports insurance. It is your responsibility to ensure your policy provides cover for all the activities that you participate in during your holiday. We offer a Ski Club Insurance policy which provides the cover we require for all bookings. This policy can be found here: Ski Club Travel Insurance – Ski Club Of Great Britain.

If you decide to purchase insurance elsewhere, it is your responsibility to ensure that your policy provides cover as that of the Ski Club Insurance policy. The policy of insurance should provide cover for personal injury, death, medical and repatriation costs in the countries which you intend to visit, together with cover for loss of baggage and valuables, personal liability, delay, cancellation, curtailment, missed departure and legal expenses. The policy should also include cover against losses caused by the effects or consequences of Covid-19.

Due to the type of holidays that you will be booking with us, we also advise that your policy should include skiing off-piste without a guide. Please note, insurance premiums must be paid at the same time as booking in order for the package holiday or single service cancellation cover to be effective. It is also advised to keep your insurance details with you while you are on your holiday. If you choose to travel without adequate insurance cover, we will not be liable for any losses howsoever arising, in respect of which insurance cover would otherwise have been available.

Passport – Check your passport is in date and valid for travel by checking the entry requirements for your destination country – you can see these here: Foreign travel advice – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

For most European destinations your passport should:

    • have a ‘date of issue’ less than 10 years before the date you arrive – if you renewed your passport before 1 October 2018, it may have a date of issue that is more than 10 years ago
    • have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the date you plan to leave the Schengen area

Check your passport meets these requirements before you travel.

NB: Beginning in October 2025, how you pass through EU border controls will change. Find out more information about EES and ETIAS here.

When venturing off piste, it is compulsory to wear an avalanche transceiver. These can be provided by the Ski Club and should be worn by every person on every all mountain, off piste and touring holiday. Anyone joining these holidays will also be required to bring their own backpack, shovel and probe.
