  • Voss is a fully functioning town with the great outdoors as its lifeblood,

which makes staying here much more of a lively experience than at some of Norwayโ€™s other major ski resorts. It is also very easy to get to and from Bergen, especially following completion of the Hangursbanen 3S gondola as you can now hop off the train from Bergen and straight on to the ski lift. The network of pistes is fairly compact, but there is something for all abilities and the touring possibilities are limitless โ€“ hire a guide to experience the mountains around Voss to their fullest. Nearby Myrkdalen is linked by regular bus services and is well worth a visit if youโ€™re coming here for more than a few days.

    Pros and cons

    • A great weekend destination from the UK and very easy to access
    • Compact ski area that is excellent for first timers in particular
    • Spectacular fjords and scenery can be found at every turn
    • Prone to long spells of bad weather
    • Local ski area limited for keener skiers โ€“ make sure you also go to Myrkdalen.
    • Food and drink is expensive in Norway

    Scandic Voss
    Myrkdalen Hotel

For your first stop in Voss, you’ll be staying at the fantastic Scandic Voss, a central hotel just a short walk from the main gondola. In Myrkdalen, you’ll stay at the modern Myrkdalen hotel, a ski-in ski-out hotel boasting 3 impressive restaurants. This holiday is on a twin occupancy basis. If you are a solo traveller, you will be placed in a room with someone of the same gender. Single rooms are available upon request and are subject to availability (they will incur a supplement fee).
