British snowsport athletes have delivered an outstanding end to the 2025/26 season, with Team GB stars Charlotte Bankes, Kirsty Muir and Zoe Atkin all winning overall FIS World Cup titles. In a historic weekend for GB Snowsport, three Crystal Globes were secured across snowboard cross, slopestyle and halfpipe, underlining Britain’s growing strength on the world stage following its most successful Winter Olympics to date.
Team GB’s Charlotte Bankes has been crowned the 2025/26 FIS Snowboard Cross Overall World Cup Champion, adding to her Olympic gold medal earlier this season. The 30-year-old secured the Crystal Globe by reaching the final four after her closest rivals were eliminated, before going on to win the big final and confirm her dominance in snowboard cross. This marks Bankes’ third overall World Cup title following victories in 2022 and 2023. She also recorded her 40th World Cup podium and 28th career win during the season.
Her success is even more impressive given that she returned from a collarbone injury sustained early in the campaign, showing resilience and consistency throughout the World Cup circuit. Bankes said to FIS: “It really means a lot. It’s been hard with the injury and coming off Olympic gold, trying to refocus hasn’t been easy.
It’s been a tough battle every race, but what we’ve done as a team is incredible. I’ve got an amazing team around me, and without them, nothing would be possible.”
Kirsty Muir enjoyed a breakthrough season in freestyle skiing, winning both the FIS Slopestyle Overall World Cup title and the Park & Pipe Overall title.
The 21-year-old Scottish skier became the first British woman to win the Slopestyle Crystal Globe, finishing top of the standings after a series of strong results, including victories in Aspen and Tignes.
Muir secured the slopestyle title with 280 points, finishing comfortably ahead of her closest rival. Her performances across both slopestyle and big air also earned her the overall Park & Pipe title with a total of 499 points.
This achievement highlights Muir’s consistency across freestyle skiing disciplines and establishes her as one of the leading athletes on the FIS World Cup circuit.
Muir said to FIS: ” I’m just so stoked, it’s been a crazy season. I can’t really believe everything that’s happened.
“It’s been a long season, but the girls are so fun to be around. That makes such a difference, and it’s been a really fun season.”
Zoe Atkin secured the FIS Halfpipe Overall World Cup title after winning the final event of the season, marking her second career Crystal Globe. The British freestyle skier topped qualification and delivered a winning first run score of 86.75 in the final, a performance that could not be matched.
This result gave Atkin her second victory of the season and enough points to claim the overall title outright, having previously shared the honour. Already a World Champion and Olympic medallist, Atkin’s latest success reinforces her position among the world’s best halfpipe skiers.
Atkin said to FIS: “I co-won the Crystal Globe last time, so I really wanted one of my own, so I’m stoked.
“Capping off a really great season, I’m really happy.”
Three overall World Cup titles in one weekend represents a historic achievement for British snowsport and highlights the continued rise of Team GB athletes in freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
The results follow Britain’s strongest ever performance at a Winter Olympics and demonstrate the depth of talent across multiple disciplines including snowboard cross, slopestyle, big air and halfpipe.
Vicky Gosling, CEO of GB Snowsport, said to BBC Sport: “To see British athletes lifting three Crystal Globes on a single day is a remarkable achievement.
“These results, coming off the back of Britain’s best ever Winter Olympics, show that British snowsport is in an incredibly strong place and promises even more success in the years ahead.”
The 2025/26 season will be remembered as a landmark year for GB Snowsport, with multiple World Cup titles, Olympic success and a new generation of athletes competing at the highest level.
