Avalanche transceiver hire costs ยฃ20 for each week you are away, plus an ยฃ8 postage and packaging chargeย – a week’s hire will therefore costย ยฃ28. This will include the time period when the units are posted out to you and returned to the Ski Clubย Ex Gratia.
Safety equipment will be posted using Royal Mail’s Special Delivery Overnight service and are delivered by 1pm the following day. A signature is required on delivery, so if the item cannot be signed for then they will not deliver it. We aim to post units to you on the Monday prior to your Saturday departure (i.e. for delivery on Tuesday) to ensure enough time for you to receive the unit and familiarise yourself with its use. If you require units posting on different days to meet different departure days, please do not hesitate to let us know.
To this end, and to improve the administration of the system, all requests must be received at least 8 days prior to your departure. No requests will be accepted if received later than this eight day point.
Members are responsible for returning the items to the Ski Club either via post or dropping off at our offices. A ยฃ150 charge will be issued for failure to return units
The Ski Club has simplified its stock of transceivers to ensure only modern, up-to-date equipment is available. All of our units have been serviced in accordance with the manufacturers recommendation and will be field tested before being posted –ย it remains your responsibility to ensure the unit is in satisfactory working order before using the transceiver in the field.
If you have any questions about this please call the Ski Club’s Information & Advice Department on 020 8410 2009, Mon to Fri 9am to 5.30pm.
