Tyrsil, despite not being widely known is the largest resort in Norway, as well as being exceptionally well geared towards family visitors - a common pattern among Norwegian resorts.

The slopes, sat on a volcano esque slope allow you to ski 360 degrees around the mountain through gladed pistes on the lower slopes while the upper slopes are open.

There are two primary bases, Høyfjellssenter and Turistsenter. The former is best suited for families, with the latter in close proximity to a great mix of blues and reds. As is common in Scandinavia, yet a novelty for Europe, there are extensive night skiing opportunities, with much of the mountain bathed in orange floodlights into the evening.
