Despite being a rather small town, it offers some seriously impressive links to Montgenèvre (in France)
You can also get to the rest of the Milky Way ski area which offers 400km of pistes – Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario and Cesana Torinese.
The beginners area is just a short walk away from the very centre of the village. It is often quiet in the days but note it can get busy as all the main pistes merge into it to complete the final descent into the village. Two chairlifts provide the route out of the village for intermediates and advanced skiers. From the chairlift which leaves from the west side of the village, intermediates should take a further chairlift to the peak of the mountain to access some challenging reds that drop back down towards the village. There are easy links to Montgenèvre where there are a great number of intermediate runs.
The Claviere valley itself does not have a significant amount of terrain for advanced skiers but the Milky Way and Montgenèvre ski areas offer huge amounts of terrain for advanced skiers. Les Rhodos in Montgenèvre is a fantastic black run that is easily accessible from Claviere.
Claviere is a tiny village which is no more than a small collection of houses and hotels. Most of the evening activity is based in bars and restaurants in the hotels. For a more lively evening head to Montgenèvre which is just a short taxi ride away. The nearest airport is Turin which is an hour and a half transfer away. Resort website: www.vialattea.it

Italy will fall in with the rest of the Alps – mostly – in see stable and fine, dry and bright conditions across the region for this week.
Spring has firmly spring, with a few flurries of cloud towards the end of this week giving way to sun, sun, and sun. The freeing line will enter a spring freeze-thaw pattern, dropping sharply overnight (with the freezing line hitting 1,500m) before climbing again the midday sun – hitting 2,500m.
The exception to this will be in the far southwest, where a few flurries of snowfall will provide a useful spring freshener for the highest slopes.
Things remain calm throughout this week, with the chance of some snowfall into next week – it remains too far out to know for certain how much, when and where this will fall, if it will at all.
