El Colorado is made up of two ski areas (El Colorado and Farellones) that sit above two interconnected villages - Villa Colorado and Villa Farellones.

It is one of the Tres Valles ski areas along with La Parva and Valle Nevado. The resort has skiing for all abilities but is best suited to beginners. For beginners, most of the green runs are on the lower parts of the mountain. The best terrain for intermediates is on the south-west face of the mountain where there are some excellent long blue runs. On piste options for advanced skiers are fairly limited – the south-east face of the mountain is the best area for advanced skiers but beware that this area can get extremely busy on a powder day. For the most challenging terrain in the area, advanced skiers should head to the backcountry area between the Farellones Embudo lift and the Falso Embudo.

There is a good selection of hotels, apartments and lodges to choose from in both Villa Colorado and Villa Farellones. An alternative is to stay in Santiago where some exceptional hotels at very reasonable prices can be found. The drive to El Colorado from Santiago normally takes about an hour.
