Between the two resorts – linked by a 9 minute ski bus – there's 100km of gentle slopes on offer,
which have become a little more snowsure in recent years thanks to investment in snow machines – but more are definitely needed.
The lift system has also improved, but note that if you’re skiing at Les Mosses, you’ll be exclusively using draglifts to access the slopes. Leysin has also developed a reputation as a freestyle hub, with the park above the Tete d’Aï recently hosting the Youth Olympic freestyle events.
The village is pretty, with traditional wooden buildings at its core, but there are a few bigger hotels to be found above the centre. There’s a popular and long winter walking trail linking Leysin and Les Mosses, along with a good selection of rustic mountain restaurants.

Getting to Leysin / Les Mosses
Direct flights are available to Kittilä from which it is only a 15 minute transfer – there’s no need to hire a car. Alternatively you can fly in via Helsinki.

Snow Overview

Good snowfall is due for much of Switzerland over the coming week, as a large and strong storm system moves in over much of the Western Alps. Temperatures will peak briefly through the middle of this period as the freezing line climbs from 1,500m to 2,000m, although this will fall again as the week continues eventually hitting sea level by the weekend.
Snow is already falling on Tuesday, with around 15cm expected down over Tuesday evening and into Wednesday. Serious snowfall will then arrive on Thursday, with around 20cm expected down across the region; this will hit most slope elevations as the freezing line dips back below 1,500m. From Friday, things will slow down, albeit a further few flurries are expected on Saturday. Sunday will dawn cold, dry and bright, making for potentially excellent riding conditions with the new snow having had time to settle and the avalanche risk time to calm down.
More snow is then expected in the new week, potentially continuing the idiocy.
