Madesimo has a beginners park at the top of the gondola which ascends from the resort centre.
There are excellent opportunities for progression with over 40% of the pistes being blue. The best collection of blues is located at the La Colmanetta peak. Intermediates are also excellently served with 50% of runs being red. The Montalto chairlift provides access to a number of good, challenging reds. There are only a few black runs for advanced skiers but there are some notable challenges, such as the Canalone ski route which descends a thousand metres in altitude.
Madesimo offers a wide range of accommodation. There are hotels, hostels, apartments and B&Bs. The closest airport to Madesimo is Milan – it is just over a two hour drive.

Spring conditions will dominate across the Italy throughout this week and into the weekend, with something akin to a freeze-thaw cycle moving into the region.
Northerly areas will see a few flurries of snowfall through the middle of this week; up to 5cm can be expected down on Thursday in the Dolomites, with 5cm preceding this in the northwest through Tuesday and Wednesday. Conditions will remain fairly consistent heading towards the weekend, before the freezing line drops dramatically into the weekend hitting below 1,000m overnight Saturday into Sunday.
This will see unsettled weather and snowfall at the same time, with 25 to 30cm expected over westerly reaches; this will drop to just a few flurries in the Dolomites.
A mix of sun or cloud – and potentially some snow – will continue into the new week.
