ON SNOW EXPERIENCE
During this trip, you’ll spend six days skiing with other Ski Club members of a similar ski profile. This trip is aimed at Advanced Intermediate (Silver) and Advanced (Purple) on piste skiers and if you are unsure of your ski level, please see our Ski Profile Page. At the end of the week, you will receive an updated grading from your Ski Club Rep.
You will be staying in the warm and sophisticated 4* Hotel Sonne, which not only boasts a wellness spa area and leisure facilities but has magnificent views of the Matterhorn, including from the balconies in each room. A mix of traditional Swiss and more international food is served in the traditional wood panelled restaurant, whilst the bar provides a sophisticated setting to unwind after a day on the slopes.
Flights are not included. You will receive by post an open 2nd class rail ticket between any Swiss airport/boarder to Zermatt (return). Timetables and route planners are found on the Swiss Rail website.
The town started life as a simple farming village, developing into a mountaineering centre in the 19th century. Now there are a great range of enjoyable après options, charming boutiques, elegant restaurants and luxury hotels. The village is car-free, but not traffic-free (you’ll see plenty of horse-drawn carriages and electric taxis), so is much quieter than many resorts. For more information on Zermatt, please visit the Zermatt Resort Guide.
If you require ski hire, the recommended shop is Triftbach Sport, which is located at the bottom of the hill, just a short walk from the hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful and offer top quality equipment with a Ski Club members discount available.
