Ski Club X Snow+Rock take on AJ Bell 3 Valley Rally

Eve (Affiliates Manager) and I (Emily, Partnerships Manager) were taking on the challenge as a team with Snow+Rock’s Brooklyn and April. Both Brooklyn and April hadnโ€™t been on snow in nearly a decade, but that didnโ€™t stop us from planning our route over dinner and attempting to reach every corner of the mountain. Day one was full-on from the start, with 60 mountain checkpoints to reach and a snowshoe around the lake squeezed in before lunch, it quickly became clear this was no easy challenge (especially while battling altitude sickness!).

After a delicious mountainside lunch and a well-earned break, it was time for us to take on the biathlon, which was a first for all of us, but surprisingly a success! It was definitely a challenge, but great trying something new. The Snow Camp apprentices were cheering us on at every station, keeping us going. We wrapped up the day with a zip wire ride back through the resort, landing right by the hotel, just in time for the 80’s themed aprรจs party!

Day two: Eve and I set off on the distance challenge, trying to clock up the most kilometres across Val Thorens within two hours – the winners managed an impressive 44.6km! All teams then enjoyed another mountainside lunch before we prepared for the dual parallel slalom. Chemmy Alcott and Jenny Jones commentated the slalom and got everyone prepped for the races to begin. I was sadly injured after an earlier wipe-out but it was brilliant watching everyone take part, we even got to see Snow Camp apprentice, Shiloh, race Chemmy Alcott. Well done to Eve on her race debut with team Girl Powder and huge well done to team Uniq X for taking the win!

After a brilliant couple of days on the snow, we wrapped things up with a fantastic Awards Dinner, sharing stories, laughing over the highs (and wipe-outs!), and celebrating alongside new friends. Most importantly, we had the privilege of hearing from four inspiring Snow Camp apprentices. Their powerful stories brought home the real impact of events like this and reminded us why raising funds and awareness for Snow Camp is so important.

A huge thank you to the Snow Camp team for putting on such a well organised event – see you in 2026!

Getting to the AJ Bell 3 Valley Rally by train!ย

If youโ€™ve never taken the train to the mountains for a ski trip, I highly recommend it. Itโ€™s such a relaxing and scenic way to travel. With limited direct snow train options available at the moment, I booked the journey in two separate legs.

The journey started with an easy and comfortable ride on the 07:12 Eurostar from St Pancras, arriving at Paris Gare du Nord at 10:19. Thanks to some accumulated points, I was lucky enough to enjoy an upgrade, which meant a delicious French pastry breakfast on board. After arriving in Paris, I hopped in a taxi for the 30-minute transfer across the city to Gare de Lyon, arriving in plenty of time for my 12:18 train to Geneva. The TGV Lyria to Geneva was a spacious double-decker, offering plenty of luggage storage, wide seats with power sockets and tables, and an onboard cafe.ย After arriving in Geneva around 15:30, it was a short 10-minute walk over to the airport arrivals area, where I waited for Eveโ€™s flight to land so we could meet our transfer to the resort together.
