Below are some reasons why you should choose Japan and JAL for your next snow adventure.

JaPow Factor
Japanโ€™s snow season runs from late November to late March. With consistent, high-quality snow throughout the season, Japan offers fantastic alpine skiing, as well as JaPow (Japan powder) – some of the best powder snow in the world! Japanโ€™s average snowfall is 10m, with areas of Hokkaido getting double that amount!! Skiing and snowboarding holidays in Japan are terrific value for money, even when compared to the cost of European, and North American resorts.

Unique Aprรจs Ski
After a busy day out on the snow chill out in a lively Japanese pub, known as an izakaya. Sup on refreshing craft or draft beer or try out the local sake (rice wine) or shochu (traditional distilled liquor). Enjoy traditional Japanese winter food such as nabe: a hearty hotpot dish made with meat or seafood, tofu, and vegetables all cooked in a tasty, warming broth.

Getting you to the Slopes
Fly to Haneda Tokyo on JALโ€™s double daily direct service from Heathrow Airport. The airline also offers indirect services from the UK via its other European hubs of Frankfurt, Helsinki, and Paris. From Tokyo, get to the slopes by either jumping on a bullet train (Shinkansen) across to the snow resorts of Nagano or Niigata in the Japanese Alps, or catch one of JALโ€™s numerous domestic flights serving the winter wonderlands of Hokkaido or Tohoku.

Snow Equipment Friendly Airline
If you are planning to take your own snow equipment, JAL gives you an extra piece of checked-in luggage free of charge on top of the normal generous allowance when flying on purely JAL operated routings. Skis or snowboard plus boots will be accepted as long as everything is in a protective case and does not exceed the weight allowance.ย  This means passengers checked-in allowance in JAL Premium and Economy classes is 2 pieces of luggage, each weighing a max of 23kg, plus a free extra 23kg piece for sports equipment; and in JAL First and Business Class is 3 pieces of luggage each weighing a max of 32kg, plus a free extra 32kg piece for sports equipment.
