Grächen Ski Resort
For rustic charm, great learning and off slopes facilities and a lack of crowds, Grächen is a very good choice.
Those of you that have been to either Saas Fee or Zermatt will have certainly driven or caught the train right past this small, but surprisingly varied ski area. Grächen is located in the same deep valley as these two famous resorts, but it is very different. The uncrowded local slopes are fairly limited in their extent, but offer surprising variety, with everything from good beginner runs to steeper blacks and off piste.
The compact resort centre acts as a great base and is accessed via a winding road from the valley below. Off the slopes, a network of winter walking trails, tobogganing routes and snowshoe paths crisscross the mountainside, making Grächen a great option for mixed groups of skiers and non-skiers.
