The Articles apply to each application for membership and to the terms of membership. Except where expressly stated in these Terms, in the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Articles, the Articles will prevail.
Acceptance of an application for membership is at the sole and absolute discretion of the Club.
In these Terms, references to Members and to membership are to those Members whose membership is current at the relevant time.
The โPrincipal Memberโ in a Family membership is the person to whom any membership material will be sent. This is the person the Club will deal with in relation to membership renewal and for other matters in relation to that Family membership. Each Member of a Family membership is a Member and is subject to these Terms.
Subject to paragraph 3.6 below, on joining the Club each Member will be issued with a membership number and will be sent Club mailings throughout the duration of their membership. If a Member does not want to receive Club mailings, they should notify the Club.
The Club may determine that certain categories of membership will not receive membership mailings and/or SKI (the Clubโs magazine). For example, in a Family membership only the Principal Member will receive Club mailings and SKI.
Subject to paragraph 3.8, these Terms apply to each Member.
The Club may create different categories of membership from time to time (for example, โInternational Membershipโ) and determine the terms applicable to such membership which will be communicated to the Member in writing on joining or renewing their membership.
At its sole and absolute discretion the Club may amend or discontinue categories of membership and/or change or discontinue the terms and/or benefits applicable to different membership categories.
Unless paragraph 3.12 applies, the standard membership period is 12 months from the date of joining.
Certain categories of membership may be subject to a cancellation period which will be communicated to Members in writing as part of their joining process (for example, in the policy terms where the Member has purchased membership with insurance).
Any Member who joins on an offer involving a non-standard membership period will be notified of the expiry date and/or when any subsequent standard membership period starts.
Subject to the Articles, the Club may terminate the membership of a Member at any time at its sole and absolute discretion.
Members may terminate their membership at any time by emailing or phoning the Membership Department. Refunds are not granted.
Where a Member selects Direct Debit as the main membership payment method, their first membership payment will usually be taken by Direct Debit within 5 working days of the Club receiving their membership application.
Future renewal payments by Direct Debit (and occasionally Continuous Card Authority transactions) are usually debited on the expiry date shown on the Memberโs membership card unless the Direct Debit Instruction has been formally cancelled before the renewal date.
Members are responsible for notifying the Club of any changes to their bank and card details as the Club will not be notified automatically. The Club is not responsible for any bank or other charges that the Member may incur as a result of not informing the Club of such changes.
Each Member must comply with the Code of Conduct.
Neither a Ski Club Rep nor any other Member acts in the capacity of instructor or mountain guide (whether or not the Ski Club Rep or other Member has any formal qualifications). To the extent permitted by relevant law, neither a Ski Club Rep nor other Member has any responsibility to, or liability for, other Members or any other person with whom they are skiing/snowboarding.
Each Member is solely responsible for their own safety whilst skiing or snowboarding with other Members. No other Member, nor any Ski Club Rep, undertakes any obligations to any other Member concerning that Memberโs safety.
Neither the Club, nor its staff or volunteers (including Ski Club Reps), is responsible for the welfare of children below the age of 18 (including U18 Members).
Children below the age of 18 (whether or not U18 Members) can only participate in on-snow activities or Club events if accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian at all times. The responsible parent or guardian is solely responsible for their safety and welfare.
It is the sole responsibility of each Member to ensure that they are suitably insured for on-snow activities they wish to undertake. In some countries, this may include having appropriate third-party liability insurance.
