The local slopes above Les Carroz are pretty and tree-lined,
making them excellent for a snowstorm when the slopes above Flaine are likely to be socked in with cloud. Two lifts get you to the heart of the 265km of slopes in the Grand Massif at the Tete des Saix, from which point there is great skiing northwards to Morillon and Samoens, southwards to Flaine or westwards back down towards Les Carroz. The ski area tends to suit intermediates, but is also renowned as a great training ground for improving off piste skiing skills – the snowfall here is abundant and the terrain offers great progression from gentle bowls to steeper faces and tree runs.
The village itself is pretty, with lots of wood and stone buildings built in a traditional Savoyard style. It is a little spread out however, and its location on a slope means that if you’re down in the lower part of the village it is a bit of a walk up in the morning to the main gondola. Restaurants are abundant, with several lively bars to choose from too – spring here is particularly good as the southwest facing village is basked in sunshine until late in the afternoon. Les Carroz is a great weekend option, with the transfer from Geneva taking around an hour.

Warm temperatures start the weekend, with the freezing line hitting 4,000m during the midday sun on Friday. This will fall, however, over the course of the long weekend, eventually hitting 2,000m on Monday evening and staying low throughout the new week.
Cloud will dominate this weekend, and with it will come precipitation. This will begin as rain on Saturday, but as things turn cooler this will turn to snow, with around 5cm falling across the region over Sunday evening, Monday and throughout Tuesday; this will fall on higher ground only as the freezing line remains on or just above 2,000m. High pressure returns in the middle of the week with plenty of fine, dry and bright conditions
