but they have a surprising amount of variety and are renowned for their family-friendly nature. There are some very good learning zones at the foot of the mountain and good progression on to the longer blues of Harschbichl. For more advanced skiers, the long black down the Bauernalm lift is popular and there are some good tree runs after fresh snow.
Recent investment has improved the lift system and investment in snowmaking has improved snow reliability for what is admittedly a low-altitude resort.
St Johann is a friendly, quiet place that is in contrast to the lively, buzzing resort of Kitzbühel nearby. There is a number of excellent, family-focussed hotels and the Panorama Badewelt is a popular swimming pool in the town centre.
Getting here is exceptionally easy, with a quick hour long drive from Innsbruck or a two hour train ride directly to the resort centre.
