Of the three Norwegian summer ski areas, Fonna has the most reliable snow and as a result it attracts the world's best racers and freestylers here in big numbers.
It’s likely that you’ll share the T-bar with one of Norway’s best racers if you ski here. There’s only one lift, but it serves some great summer terrain and the snow tends to stay in better condition than on the glaciers of the Alps.
Summer 2020 kicked off with a new base building, significantly improving the on-hill facilities and taking Fonna to new levels. Stay down on the fjord in Jondal, accessed via a short ferry hop, which is a summer sports hub – after skiing make the most of the long Norwegian summer days by kayaking, mountain biking, hiking or swimming. There’s also glacier hikes and ski touring on offer on the glacier itself.

Cold, cold and cold. Temperatures across Scandinavia remain bitter throughout this week and into the weekend, regularly scraping -15°C. Things will stay mostly dry, with sun and cloud fighting it out throughout. The exception to this is in the northwest, where milder temperatures (still well below freezing) are the exception to this rule – thanks Gulf Stream!
