Dachstein Glacier Ski Resort

The high-altitude Dachstein Glacier lies above the village of Ramsau in central Austria, just to the south of Salzburg and offers early, late and summer season skiing.

Sadly, the glacier's extent has reduced markedly in recent years and the summer season has got shorter, but the Dachstein Glacier still aims to offer summer skiing to go with the spectacular panoramas over the Salzburger Alps. In the summer of 2019, the extreme heat meant that no summer skiing was offered, but cross-country skiing was available on the glacier. Keep an eye out on the resort's glacier report each May to see whether or not the glacier lifts will open for skiing – hopefully summer skiing will return to the Dachstein.

Down in the valley, Ramsau provides lots of accommodation and a range of off-snow activities, both in the summer and the winter, from cross-country skiing and tobogganing in winter to walking and mountain biking in the summer.
